I have the honour to transmit for your information the enclosed copy of a letter from the Director of Public Works with the usual statement of particulars regarding the office of Assistant Engineer in his Department, which will be vacant in June next upon the expiry of the Agreement with Mr. Trimingham. I have to request you to be so good as to instruct the Crown Agents to consult Mr. Chadwick, as suggested, upon the selection of an Officer to fill this vacancy, and to communicate with the Government of Trinidad if he endorses Mr. Jones's recommendation of Mr. Biden. As stated in the enclosure, the Engineer selected will be employed chiefly on water-works, and in the construction of buildings and foundations in connection therewith.
